A Heart of Gold for Special Education: Honoring Mr. Brooks
This month, we honored Mr. Brooks of West Mesa High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with The Husband & Wife Law Team’s Teacher Appreciation Award. Mr. Brooks, who students lovingly address as Mr. Ken, was presented with his award during a surprise classroom presentation where his incredible patience and kindness were celebrated by those he impacts every day.
Mr. Brooks is a dedicated Special Education teacher who goes above and beyond for his students every single day. His impact is felt deeply by families, with one parent sharing in their nomination that he has shown "the most patience teaching these children with special needs." Beyond his classroom instruction, Mr. Brooks has even been known to use his own resources to provide lunch for his students during class outings as they look for jobs or conduct educational research.
This recognition celebrates Mr. Brooks’s commitment to creating a supportive environment where every student, regardless of their needs, feels cared for and valued. His award includes a commemorative plaque, a $500 gift, and the promise of a future pizza party for his entire class.
Congratulations, Mr. Brooks, for your selflessness and for making such a lasting difference in the lives of your students!
