Honoring Coach Niño’s Above-and-Beyond Commitment to the Community
The Arizona Youth Football League (AYFL) represents no shortage of devoted coaches and mentors, but Coach Niño’s dedication to not just his team, but his entire community has made an outstanding impact in the lives of his team and their families. It was an honor to celebrate him as this month’s Coach of the Month, awarding him a commemorative plaque, a $500 prize, and - most excitingly, according to the kids - an ice cream party for the team!
Coach Niño’s above-and-beyond commitment stretches beyond the football field. His nominations consistently called him out as a transformational leader in his community, using football as a way to build character, creating opportunities for kids by removing financial barriers, and selflessly dedicating his own time and resources to the programs he is a part of.
When talking about the impact this coach has had, one nomination pointed out, “My own kids have benefitted tremendously from his mentorship. He has helped build their confidence, given them a sense of belonging, and shown them what it means to work hard and support their teammates.”
Coach Niño spends his free time fundraising to give kids in the community an opportunity to be part of the team regardless of finances, giving them rides to games, access to gear, and even paying their registration fees.
Coach Niño stands out as a truly exceptional coach, mentor, and family man — selflessly sacrificing his time and resources to create meaningful opportunities within his community.
