A Ray of Sunshine in the Face of Adversity: Nurse Jody Celebrated with Guardian Angel Award
We love celebrating standout members of the local healthcare community for their above-and-beyond efforts. This month’s Guardian Angel is Nurse Jody, a Chandler Regional Medical Center ER nurse, who could not be more deserving of the honor. Her attentiveness and care for her patient shone a light in their moment of darkness, making all the difference.
Nurse Jody lifted the atmosphere with her lightheartedness and confidence. Just before her patient’s midnight food cut-off, Jody arranged a pre-surgery tasting menu, turning a restriction into a five-star experience. She represented her patient with kindness and compassion, bringing peace of mind and, as her patient says, being a “ray of sunshine in my darkest hour.”
Jody’s ability to show up in the face of adversity with humanity and empathy invited ease in a trying time. The patient expressed gratitude for the lasting impact Jody left during adversity, such as an uncertain time. We had the privilege to surprise Jody with the Guardian Angel award, giving recognition to her dedication and character. She received a $500 award and a commemorative plaque and pin as tokens of appreciation. Not only that, but Jody got to be the face of our billboards for an entire day!
It’s experiences like these that spur the Guardian Angel award onward. Nurses like Jody don’t just save lives but change them for the better every day.
